Kaz and Ken: SCEI’s almighty duo zooms some more to the top
When you’re on the top, there’s nowhere else to go but, er–further up. At least that’s true for SCEI, now chairman”>Ken Kutaragi and Kaz Hirai. Yup, these two figure heads of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. have just been promoted as Chairman and Group CEO, and as President and Group COO of SCEI, respectively.
They’ll be filling in their new positions effective December 1st. Part of Kutaragi‘s new job description is to “oversee the entire SCE Group as chief executive officer, and will fully exercise his power to reinforce and further accelerate the development of the PlayStation business.”
Hmmm… at least now we know who to blame if anything goes haywire with the PlayStation-side of the business.
Meanwhile, Hirai “will bring his strong leadership skills and experience to fulfill his responsibilities as head of operations worldwide. Previously, Hirai was part of the pioneering team in growing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 to become the top computer entertainment platforms in North America.
Wow. Big responsibilities for big personalities. Let’s see them take up the challenge.
