This feels like a case of identity crisis. The PlayStation 3 has been marketed so much as a Blu-ray player and home entertainment hub that Sony Computer Entertainment head Kaz Hirai had to reaffirm that the PS3 is all about games. No, really?
The thing that I did when I took over last year was to boast the appeal of games themselves… The main premise of the PS3 is video games. That’s the absolutely most important thing that we cannot lose sight of.
Kinda funny, since he admitted only a month ago that Sony was “a little too zealous” when they marketed the PS3 as more than a video game console. Well it’s good to see that they’re back on track, as evidenced by a very strong line-up of games for the holidays. Keep them coming! (Not too fast though, I’m already broke.)
