2D fighting games have seen something of a resurgence these past few months, and that’ll continue with the upcoming launch of King of Fighters XII. The latest entry in SNK‘s venerable fighting series has finally been upgraded from a TBA timeframe to a more specific release date.

As announced on the KoF XII Twitter, the game’s official release date is now July 28, 2009, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. That’s a full two days before the Japanese launch, as Destructoid points out. Better get right into practicing once you get your copy.
