Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom: A Devil May Cry RPG Hybrid
Not a few Xbox360 owners wept when Devil May Cry 4 was announced to be as an exclusive title for the upcoming PlayStation3. As a consolation, Sangyoun Lee, president of Korean developer Phantagram and director of Ninety-Nine Nights, described their next project, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom for Xbox 360, as almost the same as Capcom’s Devil May Cry in terms of action elements.
Circle of Doom will have random generated dungeons just like Diablo 2 for both the overworld and underworld, and will be fully 3D unlike the other earlier 2D versions of Kingdom Under Fire. While this may turn off some of the Kingdom Under Fire fans due to the change in terms of graphics and gameplay, they shouldn’t fret since Phantagram has anncounced a true sequel for the Kingdom Under Fire series although developers are mum about details for now.
Unlike Ninety-Nine Nights, Circle of Doom will have online play based from Lee’s statement: “The border between single play and Online play will be gone. For instance, as you advance through the game in single player, other players will enter Online, and all of a sudden you will be in multiplayer.” Circle of Doom is targeted to be released in Spring 2007 in Japan. More details about this game will come out in E3.
