Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom preview
Contrary to what some people think, the Xbox360-exclusive Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is a new action-RPG, it builds on some of the elements of the original Kingdom Under Fire titles, but it’s not a sequel.
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom differs from your typical RPGs such that its approach is based more on developing what the player can do with skills and abilities. In the game, there are only three player stats: luck, hit points, and skill points. The hit points function as your character’s health, the luck stats function to get you out of hellholes and to get better loot, but the skill points system is what really makes this a unique RPG.
How it works is that every action you make (aside from movement) in the game requires skill points. For example, sword swings, casting of spells, or picking of locks has an equivalent skill point required. And because you’ll only have a specific number of skill points, you’ll be forced to use your skill points wisely and how you spend those points will be your key to succeeding in the game.
However, there are also “emergency” abilities that automatically give you skill points when your hit points (your health points) drop below a certain level. This is where you can get really creative, you can use a self-attack skill to drop your own hit points so that you’ll get the “emergency” recovery skill points. Sounds pretty imaginative especially if you’re creative enough in using the system.
Also, the game will have online multiplayer support, but for those who don’t want others to interfere with their playing, you can opt to take the solitary course and play the game on your own using any of the six characters. However, the game is being developed with online multiplayer support in mind, allowing up to four players to work together to progress through the game’s levels.
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is said to be scheduled for release in the second quarter of next year, but there has been no official announcements regarding the release date. We will get back to you once we find out so keep checking back with us for more updates.
