Know any classic titles that need a next-gen remake?

Return Fire - Image 1 IGN has a feature up showcasing several classic titles that they believe would be amazing games if remade for next-gen systems. They go about this by suggesting a classic title, and then giving a more modern game to serve as a template, or an example, of what the remake of the classic could feel like. Their list of five include: Bionic Commando, Herzog Zwei, Return Fire, Road Rash, and Star Control.

Here’s an example of how they went about their suggestions. For Return Fire, a classic tank capture the flag tank-combat game that was released for the first PlayStation and the 3DO back in 1995, they chose Relic’s impressive Company of Heroes engine to recreate the destructible environments found in the original in wonderful next-gen, crisp, high-def, goodness. They demand that the new version better not mess with the original’s easy to understand rock, paper, scissors rule-sets and keep the lovable gameplay intact. They stress that they just want the thing prettier. Oh, and they want multiplayer in it.

Company of Heroes

We here at QJ think you guys, with your expansive awareness of emulation gems, can definitely suggest better titles than IGN can. Here are a suggestions to help you guys get started: old school Karateka using either the Devil May Cry or PoP: Sands of Time engine. Wait, that’s not so good. Never mind. The point is we think you guys can do better.

So, got any ideas?
