Koei Tecmo has high hopes for Hokuto Musou, planning overseas release

For something that’s more than 25 years old, the Fist of the North Star franchise still has a lot of pull in Japan. And Koei Tecmo knows it.
Koei Tecmo CEO Kenji Matsubara told Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun that they expect Hokuto Musou to sell more than a million copies in Japan alone. Yes, that “alone” means that an overseas release is planned as well.
After announcing the new PS3 and Xbox 360 title, Koei Tecmo saw its stocks rise 17%. Nihon Sangyou Shimbun attributed the stock rise mainly to the game’s announcement, noting that it’s indicative of Koei extending its catalog beyond historical-themed games.
