Kojima Gives More Details on Metal Gear Solid 4

In the latest issue of OPM, Hideo Kojima explains a bit more what he meant when he said that in Metal Gear Solid 4, Snake would have “no place to hide.”
Basically, he wants the environments to be more dynamic. He says that in the first three games, you could always count on certain objects for cover. Not so in MGS4. For instance, say you hide behind a truck. What would you do if a guard were to get in the truck and start driving away? Or if you were hiding behind a crate, and a crane picked it up? Those are a couple examples of the kinds of more unpredictable situations you can expect in MGS4. Kojima says that this kind of stuff will make the game more realistic, as opposed to the unrealistic safety found in the first three games. He doesn’t want the player to have a sure place to hide – he wants the player to always be ready to improvise if and when cover gets blown.
