Koller also wants new GTA for PSP; reacts to GTA4 360 DLC, Chinatown Wars on DS

GTA art from Patrick Brown - Image 1Yet again, we hear from John Koller. He’s been everywhere since yesterday. He already said that he wanted Ready At Dawn back for PSP development, and now, it looks like he doesn’t want to let go of Rockstar Games too. Well, who wouldn’t? Koller reveals that there are talks to get Rockstar back into PSP development for another GTA game (which gives the GTA: San Andreas Stories rumor some backing). In other Rockstar-related matters, he also reacts to GTA4‘s Xbox 360-exclusive DLC and the release of GTA Chinatown Wars on the DS.

Talking to MTV Multiplayer, SCEA‘s Koller says they’re not ready to give up on Grand Theft Auto for the PSP. There’s definitely room for more:

No one should sleep on that franchise. ThatÂ’s a tremendous franchise for PlayStation in general. WeÂ’ve had two [GTA:LCS, GTA:VCS] that are the top two sellers on PSP right now. So, thereÂ’s definitely continued conversations with Rockstar on all their brands. ThatÂ’s nothing thatÂ’s left the PlayStation family.

My, my, if Sony and Rockstar are having meetings about a new game… this gives the GTA: San Andreas Stories rumor some backing! But anyways, moving on…

True enough, most every GTA installment got released on a Sony platform – the more recent of which is GTA IV on the PS3. And speaking of which, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood about the Xbox 360 version getting its own exclusive DLC. For Koller, it’s all business:

To be honest, Rockstar has to manage their business as they see fit. We’re very good partners with them. They just launched ‘The Lost and the Damned‘ for 360, so, they need to make their own business decisions. But we certainly have a tremendous relationship with them and always have.

Note that I earlier said that most every GTA installment got released on a Sony platform. Operative word: most. Because here comes GTA Chinatown Wars, and it’s just about to be released on the DS very, very soon. Like March 5 soon! Here’s Koller’s take on the matter, and he doesn’t seem to be all that bothered about it either:

ItÂ’s an interesting launch on DS. It raises some eyebrows in a lot of areas. ItÂ’ll be interesting to see how that sells.
