Konami Classic Series: Arcade Hits soon to reach DS
Ready for some reminiscing and for that walk down retro-gaming lane? Well you better be as Konami is currently working on a compilation of all its arcade classics from the 80s. You will soon be reunited with the glory that is Contra, this time, on the Nintendo DS.
Though Konami has not yet formally announced Konami Classic Series: Arcade Hits, the press has already been given the green light to confirm its existence, and several lucky game reporters have already been able to sample the game in its early build.
Some known titles that will appear in the compilation are Circus Charlie, Contra, Gradius, Roc’N Rope, Rush’N Attack, Time Pilot, Track & Field, and Yie-Ar Kung Fu. More titles are expected to be added to this list as the game’s development progresses.
Though some may doubt the accuracy of these games once they are ported to the DS, it has been reported that even in these early stages of production, the DS is not letting anybody down and it was able to handle the emulation well. It has also been noted that the lower screen of the DS still has no function at the moment, though the developers are expected to fix that within the next few months. On top of the original arcade titles, this compilation will also feature “DS remixed modes” so that the titles can support multiplayer via the DS’ wi-fi capabilities.
As we wait for more reports about this game’s development, here are some screens that may just get you all misty-eyed and fuzzy as we try to remember the games of past years.
