Konami dispels rumor of Xbox 360 development for Metal Gear Solid 4
If you’ve been wondering about the veracity of the rumor concerning Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, then wonder no more: Konami has laid all rumors to rest with an official statement. There’s a bit of a story behind the matter, too. You can read about the story as well as Konami’s official statement after the jump.
All it takes is a single statement from a developer source to either confirm or deny the validity of hearsay. With regards to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Konami has declared that the game will be a Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive.
Apparently, the progenitor of the rumor reportedly spread the word regarding the alleged Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots without having actually talked to Konami, a move that understandably baffled the developer.
In response, Konami issued the following statement: “For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game.”
On the other hand, Konami hasn’t said anything about any future Metal Gear games being single-platform exclusives, so owners of other systems may still have something to hope for. In the event that Konami should decide to go cross-platform with a future Metal Gear game, rest assured that we’ll relay the updates as soon as we get them.
