Kutaragi Don’t Care About No Stinkin’ Rivals!

BannerIt’s little snippets like this that make me wonder whether the bad press that seemed to flow non-stop from the Sony camp is merely a result of the cultural divide between East and West. Speaking with MCV about whether or not he thinks their rivals will outstrip Sony‘s next-generation offering, Ken Kutaragi, President of Sony Computer Entertainment reportedly responded with a flat, “We do not care”. Granted it was a silly question to begin with, but what kind of answer is that? Oh Ken, we love you! Still, it could have been worse I suppose. Kutaragi went on to reiterate that while they are currently having a hard time manufacturing units, they’ll eventually clear that hurdle; “Right now, it is an issue, because we canÂ’t manufacture enough blue laser diodes for our PlayStation 3’s. But we will resolve that.”

At the same function, Phil Harrison, President of Sony Worldwide Studios reiterated that Resistance: Fall of Man, and Genji: Days of the Blade, were definite launch titles, adding that “We’re at a fluid time when games are in final QA but not out of final QA. But we’re close.”
