LazyOne’s Wolf3D Still Kicking

Wolfenstein 3d Port!

LazyOne isn’t lazy, as his name might imply. He’s just been preoccupied with his other pet project, the Mini VMac.

Of course, now that he’s had his fill of the Mac emulator for now, he’s going to start working on further improving his Wolfenstein 3D port for the DS. One of the things people have been clamoring for in an update was a non-text only status bar. Unfortunately, he still isn’t going to add that one just yet, but he’s adding a lot more goodies in its place.

As he writes on his blog:

Here are some things you may see in the next release:

– Sound (Digital only, no synthesized sound yet)

– Music (Looking possible, either by directly emulating the adlib sound hardware or by conversion)

– Builds for all wolf3d versions (wolf shareware/registered, spear shareware/registered) – Saving/Loading (though not on flashcarts at first, I still have to think about that)

I will also look into building a control panel incase someone needs to adjust the gamma correction or remap their keys.

He’s also thinking about adding in a cheat system, but let’s see what he does first, and hope his next version of the game includes the happy, happy sounds of videogame death.
