Left Field Productions is cooking up something different for WiiWare users everywhere. The makers of Nitrobike are building a casual poker game for the Wii, called Battle Poker.

According to the report from Cubed3, the game is a family-friendly card game that supports up to four players on one console, with each player vying to make the best hand possible given the cards that show up on screen.

James Higgins, CEO of Left Field Productions, explains,

Battles are played across multiple rounds with points scored for each round based on the quality of the hand. Each player uses a Wii Remote to point and click on a deck of cards laid across the screen. The first click flips the card over at which point it can be grabbed by anyone else. You’ve got to have fast fingers and eyes if you’re to grab the cards you need before someone else snatches them from you.

As for the game’s status, the game is reported to be complete, and ought to be heading to the WiiWare service in the near future. In the meantime, stick to QJ for your daily dose of gaming news.
