Left for Dead Rising 2: multiplayer confirmed
Sweet! 6,000 zombies on screen and now multiplayer too? Yummy. Yes, after some confusion at GDC, turns out Dead Rising 2 will be getting multiplayer after all. This was confirmed by series creator Keiji Inafune last week at Captivate ’09, but the now question is: what type of multiplayer will it be? Left 4 Dead Rising 2, ey?
Ok, everyone! I’ll need a headcount! One, two, three, fo– gods dammit, could
everyone please stand still and not eat each other for at least five seconds?!

Multiplayer support was confirmed by series creator Keiji Inafune last week at Captivate ’09. The way he sees the current market, “We’re at a point in game history that you need to have some form of multiplayer component in a game. Single-player alone is not going to cut it.”
True enough, games like Resident Evil 5 and, more recently, Uncharted 2 have been gotten multiplayer components. Let’s just hope that the time spent in developing multiplayer for Dead Rising 2 doesn’t detract from the single-player experience too.
With that said, what kind of multiplayer will it be? The usual co-op or versus, capture the flag gametype, etc? Hmm… How about a Left 4 Dead Rising 2 multiplayer mode? Well, here’s what Inafune had to say:
So rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game, but I can’t go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don’t want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer, so keep that in mind.
Capcom‘s Dead Rising 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC is currently on a TBA status for its release date.
