Les Fourmis (Ants) released
Phantom, a beginning French developer, ported one of his Windows applications written in C to the PSP. This program is called: Les Fourmis, but from French classes, you can find out that this means: The Ants (or Ants for short).
The whole concept behind this program is that the squares on the screen act as ants moving in an anthill. The path of a square is not the same every time, and thus provides variety to the application. This game is not interactive in which you can control these squares and the lines that are drawn on the screen, but you can view these little critters crawl over your precious PSP’s screen. When you launch this program, it starts up automatically and the critters (squares) start moving. While they are moving, you can hit a variety of buttons on the PSP to change the appearance of the “art” that is being created. The screenshots below are showing some of these various viewing modes within a few seconds of each other.
I myself will probably use this neat, little application as a screensaver while resting it on my desk. While it is playing, I might use it with music playing in the background via IR shell. Although, do not leave your PSP on while viewing this for a prolong period of time, there is a possibility of “ghostings” (burned images on a LCD) with still images. If you were to use it as a screensaver while listening to music, be sure that it does not stay on for hours at a time. With that said, enjoy the French developers program!
