Life with PlayStation update goes live… and gets pulled out

PS3 network update - Image 1The Life with PlayStation system update has finally gone live! …or not. Well, it was available for a brief bit of time, but now, it’s already been pulled out by Sony. Aww.

It looks like the wrong switched was flicked at Sony HQ. Reports from the PlayStation boards indicate that the Life with PlayStation service has actually gone live. Some people have already been able to download the update to give them access to the new service (news channel, weather channel, etc.) – the version update prompt seems to have been found via Folding@Home.

Unfortunately, all pleasant surprises must come to an end.

Turns out that the going live of Life with PlayStation was actually premature, and now, Sony’s already pulled it out. Speaking to Edge, Sony clarified:

Today, while testing the application, Life with PlayStation was available for download temporarily, by mistake. We will make [an] official announcement for the service launch shortly.

Oopsie…

What ever the case may be, whether you were lucky enough to have been able to download it already, it seems that the system firmware update introducing Life of PlayStation will be (officially, this time around) rolling out soon. Maybe this week? Maybe the next?
