With homebrew developers consistently coming up with new projects, you’re bound to unearth a gem or two. French developer frozenjaZz was able to come up with a simple yet very innovative puzzle game titled LinesCS 0.1 for the Nintendo DS.
The game starts out with three differently colored squares randomly placed on a 9×9 board. The objective of the game is to rack up as many points as possible by picking up like colored squares and lining five of them up on the board. Every move you take spawns three new squares on the board in random locations.
Sounds simple enough, right? However, the process of picking up a piece and moving it to another square on the board follows a strict pathfinding algorithm. In other words, the piece has to physically travel along an open path that isn’t blocked by other squares.
Much like other homebrew games, LinesCS was based on PAlib and features a pretty optimized code considering the file size of the game. In any case, anybody interested in getting a copy of LinesCS 0.1 can download it from the link below. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more future updates from frozenjaZz.
