The Violet Signet quest is a tricky, fickle thing. As you continue rising in reputation with The Violet Eye, you will always get a better version of the Violet Signet ring. But you should choose carefully, as this series of four rings across four quest paths (that’s 16 rings, count them folks) may cause you to grab the wrong of ring for you and complete the wrong quest path.
Yeah, we know you’re all like “Sure, we made that mistake all the time, we simply ask a GM to have it swapped,” but today is no picnic folks: if you checked the 2.1.0 patch notes, the new major content patch fixes the quest so you can have it swapped as long as you’re Exalted. “What’s the big deal then?” you ask? Well, it’s simple really: no more swapping until the patch goes live.
Just in case you couldn’t believe your eyes, we’ll reiterate: GMs will no longer entertain any Violet Signet ring swaps as long as the fix is already pending. If you were hoping for a quick fix for your proper quest path and reward, you’re going to have to wait until the Public Test Realm period is over.
And yes, the reward swap at the Public Test Realms have been reported as working, so no worries about another incomplete or glitchy fix. Sorry for the adamant tone folks, but that’s Blizzard‘s first, last and official word on the issue, so everyone will just have to wait.
