Richard Garriott (image from gamasutra) - Image 1Good old Richard “Lord British” Garriott is up and about again, and this time, Gamasutra got the chance to have a little sit-down and chat with him regarding NCSoft‘s MMO plans.

As it turns out, NCSoft is currently working on three new games – including Tabula Rasa in their Austin studio alone. Another one of the Austin studio’s projects is the MMO that both NCSoft and Spacetime Studios are working on.

Aside from admitting that the project will be a sci-fi MMO and that it will be an original IP, Garriott wouldn’t elaborate on other details.

Garriott also assured Tabula Rasa fans that the game will definitely be released this year. The beta process is going full-throttle, with NCSoft inviting outside testers in. NCSoft is also getting ready to move past the “hundred of testers at a time” and into the “thousands of testers at a time” range with the game’s next build in “about a week in a half or so.”

Garriott said that by the summer, Tabula Rasa will have tens of thousands of testers going at it, and the game will be set for release shortly after.
