Here’s some good news for MMO gamers on a tight budget. Turbine is going down the free-to-play route for Lord of the Rings Online.

 

The change in business model will commence this fall as Turbine releases a major upgrade for the game. The switch will cover both North America and Europe. Codemasters will operate the game in the latter region.

 

Lord of the Rings Online follows another Turbine MMO which switched to the free to play model, Dungeons and Dragons Online.
