In the Eastfarthing of the Shire runs the River Baranduin (or “Brandywine” as the Hobbit-folk call it). The river flows out from the Hills of Evendim far to the north.
When needing to cross this river, the locals use the The Bucklebury Ferry, which connects The Marish on the western banks to Buckland on the far side. Consisting of two simple wooden landings (one on each bank), a small boat runs between the two. As dark shadows rise in the East, however, the boat has gone missing. Was it pulled from the water to protect against intruders, or simply abandoned? Travelers in this land nowadays may need to find a shallow area and attempt fording the wide river, or use to the Brandywine Bridge (also known as the Bridge of Stonebows) to the north.
