Lost Magic Preview

RPG titles never seem to get old, and they definitely aren’t going away. With so many fans still playing Final Fantasy games on their SNES, it’s no surprise why companies continue to develop them under the same formula. Lost Magic is an RPG game for the DS that incorporates the stylus as a wand, which is a brilliant use of it, too. The game blends together RTS and RPG elements to create something new and interesting for the DS.

1Up has posted a preview on Lost Magic and they go into detail about the story and how the game works. They let us know that the game uses the stylus to draw out the symbols to cast a spell and that there are over 350 runes to unlock. Whether or not those 350 runes will all be good and solid spells is yet to be seen, but at least the option is open for those that love collecting stuff, Gotta catch em all. They note that there is melee combat as well, but the focus seems to be geared towards using the wand/stylus.

Here’s a clip from the preview:

There are multiplayer modes, but we only have the lone copy of the game and have not been able to try them out. The “dueling mode” sounds fun, however — getting together with a friend to unleash some magic mayhem on each other, if implemented right, could be great.
