Lost Planet Colonies trademarked by Capcom: spin-off in the works?

Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions - Image 1As you may know, Lost Planet is Capcom‘s third-action shooter entry to the Xbox 360. Shooting everything that moves was the motto here, and you always had enough guns at your disposal. It was received well thanks to non-stop intense action with not much of a plot to distract.

When a title gets quite a fanbase, a spin-off is inevitable. This may be in order for Capcom’s alien bug busting Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions, as Kotaku reports that Capcom recently trademarked the name “Lost Planet Colonies”.

The game is still hot with an upcoming PC release and a constantly growing online community. It’s probably too early to expect a sequel a few months after the game’s release, but it’s feasible that an expansion is coming. After all, Lost Planet didn’t last more than 10 hours without accounting multiplayer.

Then again, there are other names trademarked with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office that never came to be. Just keep on your toes, we’ll keep you informed.
