Lost Planet in Times Square and XBL multiplayer demo promo
Capcom announced that Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will be hanging out on the corner of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue in New York until the end of December. A 60-second trailer for the game will be broadcasted on the even more huge 3,000 square feet of the NBC SharpVision HDTV screen at Times Square.
That’s a nice spot to air an ad: Capcom expects 40 million “impressions” during this time. Not a bad way to soften up the New York market for the January 12 launch of the game.
As Charles Bellfield of Capcom says, “What better way to make an impact than by presenting the game in one of the most recognized and visible spots in the world, during the busiest time of the year.”
Did you get the multiplayer demo yet? As you know, the Lost Planet multiplayer demo is available for free download on Xbox Live Marketplace.
Special download. Meanwhile, gamers who preorder either the standard or collector’s edition of the game with participating retailers get a special token card with a code for a separate, special version of the demo (it has an additional multiplayer map). Not a bad way to make another marketing impression.
Even though some people didn’t get a good first impression because of the text-size issues (which have been fixed), the game is turning out to be quite impressive.
