LOTRO: meet the stingy Sickle-flies

sicklefliesIn the latest Turbine Inc. update on The Lord of the Rings Online where they do a sort of meet-and-greet the creatures of Middle-earth, we are introduced to the stingy Sickle-flies. Now, they might look like your typical insectoids but within those teeny bodies are disease-bearing juices.

There are a lot of biting and buzzing insects found throughout the Wilderlands of Middle-earth, and among them are the sickle-flies of the Midgewater Marshes. While most of these insects are merely annoying and are disgusting nuisances, they can carry some pretty debilitating diseases.

With just one bite, they can render you weak and dizzy, making you susceptible to much bigger prey and foes. Turbine advises LOTRO players not to underestimate these little wingers and avoid the sickle-flies as they’re usually found in marshy regions.

It’s almost tempting to entitle this post as Lord of the Flies, but then again, that’s just me.
