Lua Ys for PSP
jman420 could be one of those selected few not of Japanese descent (or maybe he is) that had an appreciation for this action role-playing game from Falcom released in 1987, otherwise, he wouldn’t have bothered porting it to the PSP.
Ys I : Ancient Ys Vanished is the first in the Ys franchise. The story begins with Adol Christin stumbling upon the land of Esteria in his efforts to uncover the mystery of the land of Ys that vanished from the face of the earth seven hundred or so years ago.
Although it has enjoyed extreme popularity in its native country, Japan, it was only officially released in English a handful of times. It was Ys: The Vanished Omens for the Sega Master System, Ys: Book I & II (a game package of the first two installments) for the TurboGrafx-CD and for DOC PCs, in a port brought over by Sierra.
Since jman420’s homage to the original game is still in its humble beginnings, you can just ogle at the very detailed environment that you’ll be playing around in. I myself am looking forward to more developments for this game. One thing I know is that it is going to look good. Just look at his previous work on Survival Horror. Download his current project and see if it’s to your liking.
Lua Y’s for PSP currently include:
- Character Animation
- Walking behind buildings
- Scrolling backgrounds
jman420’s To-Do List:
- Collision
