Madden for the Nintendo Revolution / Wii
A version of Madden is coming to Nintendo’s new revolutionary console, which will not just be a direct port from other systems but instead feature an extensive gesture system through which will enhance gameplay.
Consequently, the game is developed by a separate studio in Canada, in order to fully realize the potential of the Revolution’s unique controlling capabilities. The team is still experimenting how to integrate the gesture system the best way. John Schappert of EA commented,
“At first we had the hike mechanism where you actually pulled the controller back, so if you think about gesturing your hand forward and pulling it back as if you’re hiking the ball, which kind of looks more like a hike, was very hard to do and wasn’t something that was comfortable for people, so we actually moved it to snapping the ball up, as if you’re receiving the ball.”
Schappert also said EA has other titles for the Nintendo Wii in development that are designed with the console’s features in mind. “I think you’ll see continued support for Revolution and you’ll see EA continue to bring innovative titles that maximize the power of the machine”.
Madden will be presented at E3 next month.
