Magnus Bergsson talks EVE Online

Eve Online

Recently, there has been a lot of news with Eve Online there’s this one about the new hardware, online fanfest; but perhaps the most noisy of all them Eve Online news is that $170,000 heist. But as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity and to continue spreading what’s hot and new with the game is CCP Games‘ Chief Marketing Officer Magnus Bergsson.

Magnus Bergsson talked about their new voice integration feature which he mentioned as a replacement for other third party voice clients like TeamSpeak or Ventrillo. Basically, it will offer a strategic advantage in combat especially larger gangs. Bergsson also said that it will also not create any lags because of two reasons- “first, the voice traffic will go out on different pipes than those used by the EVE cluster and will run on dedicated servers at Vivox headquarters. Second, lag that sometimes occurs in large fleet battles is caused by tremendous pressure on the server CPU running the system that battle is engaged on, and has nothing to do with internet bandwidth.”

He also mentioned about the progress of the Chinese Open Beta which he says is going very well. Aside from that, he also talked about details on the medals and awards which players can earn in the upcoming factional warfare.
