Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim announced, screenshots and art abound
RTS fans, rejoice! Paradox Interactive has just announced that it has picked up Majesty. The sequel, dubbed Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is scheduled for an early 2009 release. You can check out the screenshots and art at the full article.
Those who played the real time strategy game from Cyberlore Studios, Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim will be happy to know that Paradox Interactive has picked up the brand. Yes, RTS lovers, you’ll be getting a new Fantasy Kingdom in Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim.
In case you haven’t the slightest idea what were talking about, here’s a bit of a primer. Majesty, as the name suggests, centers on you building a fantasy kingdom. You’re the sovereign and it’s up to you to expand and build the kingdom. You’ll also have to take care of certain things like giant rat infestations. According to the press announcement, Paradox Interactive will be taking the humor and charm of the original and upgrade the game to today’s standards.
Paradox Interactive’s Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President, has this to say:
This is by far the biggest release from Paradox to date and it is sure to become one of the most anticipated titles of 2009. Our aim is to release a fantastic game that not only encourages existing fans to renew their passion for the series, but also to reach out to the broader gaming community that has grown so much since the original was released.
Majesty 2 – The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is tagged with a Q1 2009 ETA and will be coming to a PC near you. In case you’re hoping for console versions of the sequel, it’s time to cross your fingers as according to the release, confirmation for console versions will come at a later date.
