All hands on deck. The campaign in the Solomon Islands is about to begin. It’s just been announced that Eidos is going to release the demo for Battlestations: Midway tomorrow, January 18, on Xbox Live. As we’ve reported before, the game allows you to switch instantly between every vehicle on your command, and so, the devs want to make sure that you get to immerse yourself in this kind of gameplay with the demo.

The map for the demo is called the Islands of Solomon and focuses on the historical battle of how the United States led a counter-strike on the Japanese forces occupying the archipelago. In the demo, you’d be able to control either the Allied or the Japanese. Check out your possible battlestations:

  • Player 1 – Aircraft carrier with full compliment of aircraft (fighters, torpedo planes and dive-bombers)
  • Player 2 – Aircraft carrier with full compliment of aircraft (fighters, torpedo planes and dive-bombers)
  • Player 3 – Shipyard with destroyers, cruisers and battleships (2 can be launched at any one time)
  • Player 4 – Shipyard with destroyers, cruisers and subs (2 can be launched at any one time)

The only difference is that if you’re controlling the Japanese, Player 1 and 2 will have airfield carriers instead. So, as early as now, you better decide on which battle station you’re going to man come tomorrow.
