March Game Sales to be Down 18%
Wedbush Morgan Securities has issued it’s NPD preview for March which shows the sales being around $445 million, which is down 18% compared to last year.
They also included around $122 million in sales from Xbox 360, PSP and DS which had a year-over-year growth of 58%, but that was offset by the decline in sales of next generation software. The March game sales were mainly driven by Kingdom Hearts II, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, The Godfather, Black, and Fight Night Round 3.
WMS does believe however that there will be a rebound in April, which they say has a lot to do with the Xbox 360 finally being available.
