Here’s a new update for Nintendo’s upcoming Mario Kart Wii title: Thanks to a Japanese magazine scan, a few new details were revealed about the newest next-gen racer starring everyone’s favorite Italian plumber.
Asides from the 12-player online mode revealed in a previous article, the game will feature a robust match up system with either friends or random players found through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection network.
It also seems like the game will focus a lot on the online aspect as you have the ability to constantly check for your friends online and alert you once they become available. This sounds especially useful if you’re looking for a quick race against someone you know.
Finally, the scan mentions “special events” for players to participate in. The interesting thing is that these events change over time, so people might want to keep their eye on this feature once the game goes live.
In any case, Mario Kart Wii should be driving by this Spring of 2008. While we’re all waiting for its arrival, why not take a look at the box cover for the game below.
