Mario, Sonic still surpass CoD4 in Chart Track on Feb. 23

And as the 2008 Olympics draws near, it’s hype seems to grow more influential. While Beijing has been transformed to house an Olympic city – making the latter a city within a city – Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games makes serious headway into the casual gaming market. Or maybe it’s just in the UK, where SEGA‘s joint Olympics game with Nintendo holds top spot for another week running.

As Epic Games‘ Unreal Tournament III tries its luck in the European market, SEGA‘s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games continues to grab gamers by the thousands. As both the DS and Wii versions rank top two of the most sold games by units, Activision’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) charges in to number two. Nintendo’s Dr. Kawashima‘s Brain Training holds third spot after leaping four places up Chart Track UK’s top ten for the week ending February 23, 2008.

Capcom‘s Devil May Cry (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) drops two spots to sit waveringly at number four, but didn’t affect non-mover Nintendo’s Wii Play at fifth place. Midway Games’ Game Party achieves a nine-place jump to six and is the week’s best leapfrogger at the top ten.

Disney Interactive’s Turok (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) falls four places to number seven, while FIFA 08 matches numbers with the eighth spot. Epic Games’ Unreal Tournament III for the Sony PS3 debuts in the UK at ninth place, kicking Electronic Arts‘ The Simpsons Game to number ten. Again, the top ten titles for the week ending February 23, 2008, no matter what their price placement, are as follows:
