Mark Rein bets on 2008 PS3 Unreal Tournament 3 Europe release
Chances of Epic Games‘ Unreal Tournament 3 making its way to the Sony PlayStation 3 for gamers in Europe are slim, says Epic VP Mark Rein. The PC version of UT3 in that part of the world is slated for November 23, while localization issues can be blamed if the much awaited first-person shooter’s Sony PS3 iteration gets delayed until 2008. “I doubt it’ll be released this year in Europe,” said Rein at an event in Birmingham.

There’s a fat chance Epic Games‘ Unreal Tournament 3 will arrive on the Sony PlayStation 3, but the same cannot be said for Europe. According to Epic VP Mark Rein, “Europe’s a problem because the certification process in Europe takes longer.” He did say it’s possible to see a 2007 release around those parts, but not very likely.
“We think there’s a very solid shot we’ll get out this year – I don’t know about Europe,” Rein told EuroGamer. He continued, “they’re testing all these different languages in all these different countries, so I doubt it’ll be released this year in Europe.”
Rein previously stated in an interview that the Sony PS3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is looking great, and his opinion seems to remain. “This build is really solid. On the test we ran on this build there were an amazingly small number of issues. We were surprised at how few issues there were,” he said.
While any announcement for a release date of Unreal Tournament 3‘s PS3 iteration is still covered with anticipation, the game is dead-set to deliver fast-paced FPS action on the PC this November 19 in North America. Europe can expect some PC UT3 goodness come November 23, but the PS3 version may have to wait ’til 2008.
