Marvel Ultimate Alliance Screens
We’ve shown screens of Activision‘s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance before but they were for the PS3 and for the Xbox 360. Not to let the Wii people down, we’ve found these screens in an IGN interview for you guys to enjoy.
As far as the Wii controls for the game go, Karthik Bala, CEO of Vicarious Visions, has said that the final version of the game will use both the Wiimote and the nunchuk. The Wiimote will have around five principle base gestures that manage both attacks and mutant powers. Forward jabs with the Wiimote for instance, allows for heavy attacks. A simple shake with the Wiimote is enough for light attacks. Swooping motions will allow your character to sweep incoming AI. Those are all basically very intuitive motions. More complicated gestures combined with holding down the B trigger will allow your character to execute special attacks. For example, if you’re using Spidey, if you hold down B and shake around the Wiimote, you’ll do the “web rodeo” special attack. Sounds promising doesn’t it?
Since the game allows for multiplayer, play space has been an issue. Bala admits that they’ve done a TON of playtesting to resolve this issue. Players can get carried away with all that swinging and swooping so there stands a good chance that they might hit each other. The bottom-line though as Karthik assures is that you don’t have to exert much effort to get the motion you want. Will playing Wolverine will be a strain on your arms? My god, a berzerker barrage will kill me. Check out the guy waving the Wiimote to do Ghostrider’s chain attack:
