It looks like another hit manga title in Japan is about to get the gamer treatment. Marvelous Entertainment has just opened up a site To Love-Ru, an ongoing manga penned by Hasemi Saki and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki. The latter mangaka is famous for his work on the Black Cat anime/manga series.
To Love-Ru tells the story of Rito Yūki, a high-school boy who meets the strange alien princess Lala of the planet Deviluke. As it turns out, Lala escaped to Earth to avoid an arranged marriage, and has taken Rito as her new “fiance”, just to avoid going back home.
The situation takes a turn for the strange when we make mentions that Rito loves somebody else, and that Zastin, Lala’s bodyguard, is already hot on his ward’s trail.
To Love-Ru‘s PlayStation Portable port has been labelled a 2D adventure title, while the DS port has been branded as a 2D Action + 3D Touch action game. Touch action. In a reputedly fan-service heavy series. We’re basing this on a Google translation, so we’ll hold any further thoughts on the matter.
The game is to launch summer 2008, hinting that it’s being primed to complement the To Love-Ru anime currently scheduled for April next year. To Love-Ru‘s manga is currently serialized weekly in Japan’s Weekly Shonen Jump.
