Massive GTA IV ad sighted in New York City
First off, this isn’t news in the sense that most people understand it. Ads aren’t anything new, but hey, this is for Grand Theft Auto IV, arguably one of the most-awaited games for next gen video games consoles this year. And this is filed under off-topic, alright? On with the show.
The recently-released Grand Theft Auto IV trailer hasn’t exactly made Rockstar and New York City officials good friends, but the ad campaign for the latest iteration of the super-popular videogame franchises goes on. The “IV” logo has been sighted on everywhere from videogame magazines to television, and now Rockstar has upped the ante by plastering the logo on the entire side of a building.
This report comes to us by way of Kotaku, but we still don’t know exactly where the building in the picture is located. Various government officials have already spoken out against violent videogame ads, and while there’s no inherent violence that one can get from an ad that only has the Roman numeral “IV” on it, we’re still waiting for whatever additional backlash this ad will cause.
See, some people just get upset over the smallest things. A GTA ad’s bad for you, but a movie poster showing a whole lot of blood is not. Even “Godzilla”, which brings with it a level of depravity much worse than anything that even the sickest mind at Rockstar can ever come up with, got huge ads. Oh well.
