Matter bright lights are supported by Apple’s Adaptive Lighting.

HomeKit allows you to control smart bulbs.
Nanoleaf’s hardware is among the first to support Apple’s Adaptive lighting feature in the Home app. Adaptive Lighting, a feature of HomeKit, allows smart bulbs and lights be adjusted throughout the day. It automatically adjusts the color temperature according to a schedule. This is similar to Night Shift’s white balance adjustments. It has been available on iOS 14 but the fall iOS 18 update is expanding support to include smart lights and bulbs that run Matter, reports The Verge. Previously, the feature was only supported by a few smart lighting products. Most consumers bought products from Nanoleaf and Philips Hue and ignored all other brands. For consumers, the expansion to Matter means more lights will be able to work with the color temperature-adjusting function. This includes products from manufacturers who supported Adaptive Lighting in HomeKit but not on Matter models. Nanoleaf said in the report that they are testing Adaptive Lighting with their Essentials Matter light range. Some users have already noticed the functionality in the iOS 18 betas. Although the support will be extended, this doesn’t mean that all Matter lights will be compatible with Adaptive Lighting right from the beginning. The feature will not work unless the manufacturers enable it.
