Meet Algol, Soul Calibur 4’s mythical boss

There’s a new character revelation for Soul Calibur 4 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)! This time, however, we’ve got a boss character on our hands, and his name’s Algol. Let’s say hello to King Algol after the jump!

There’s a new character out for Soul Calibur 4 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), and his name’s Algol. More importantly, he’s supposed to be the big, bad boss for this outing, so we better get to know him well.

Hideo Yoshie, Character Designer for Soul Calibur 4 recently spilled some details regarding Algol. According to Yoshie, Algol is “the ‘king’ of an ultra ancient civilization” and is supposed to be the strongest character ever in the Soul Calibur series.

How come? Well, in SC4, Algol will be wielding both Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, and even without the two legendary weapons, the man is supposed to have 10 different weapons built IN HIS BODY. Talk about a hardcore fighter.

Yoshie hints that you might actually see two different Algol characters in the game: one who isn’t wielding the legendary Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, and one who’s suffused with the power of both blades. We’ll have to see if Yoshie’s statements bear fruit when Namco Bandai releases the game, but for now, enjoy these new screenshots we have of Algol.
