Mercenaries 2 multiplatform: Pandemic explains why
Perhaps the noise of buildings crumbling down to the ground couldn’t be louder than the “I told you so!”s that erupted after Pandemic Studios‘ and Electronic Arts‘ announcement that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames would be a cross-gen multiplatformer (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2). Pandemic’s latest weblog, #19 on their list, and conveniently on GameTrailers, is dedicated to this multiplatformer announcement, and their not-so-subtle hints that it was coming.
We never saw the PC and PS2 versions coming, though.
The game footage you’re going to see in the weblog is Pre-Alpha Software, so please, no criticisms when you’re hitting the wrong target. Even there, one can see Pandemic living up to the Mercenaries motto: it ain’t a Mercenaries game until the property damage gives your insurance company a heart attack. In fact, the real interest may not be in how the Xbox 360 and PC versions will look like compared to the PS3, but how the PS2 version will stack up to its next-gen brother.
