Indy may have won the battle, but it looks like Snake’s won the war. Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has sold more than one million units within its first week of arriving in Europe. Put another way, we’re looking at over 140,000 sales within a seven-day period.
On a related note, Konami also divulged that all 25,000 of Europe’s limited edition MGS4 sets, which included a making-of Blu-Ray, a soundtrack CD, and an “Old Snake” mannequin, quickly sold out. This achievement effectively eclipses MGS4‘s previously reported success in Japan, with sales exceeding the half-million mark just five days after its release in the region.
“MGS4 is nothing short of a masterpiece – an epic conclusion to the Solid Snake story,” said Martin Schneider, Konami Germany‘s sales and marketing director, regarding the game’s sales in his region. “We are extremely pleased with the positive feedback we have received from retail and consumers alike, and will keep satisfying their needs with updates to the gameÂ’s Extra option, and via new content to Metal Gear Online.”
