Metal Gear Solid 4: Podcast confirms worldwide release date and other details - Image 1Break out those floating exclamation points, troops. Ryan, Ken, and Aki recently released the latest of their Kojima Productions Report segments, bringing in more details regarding Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3.

The first matter the trio cleared up is the game’s launch date, officially confirmed to be June 12. The date is also further noted to be the game’s worldwide release, indicating that both North America, Europe, and Japan will be getting their copies at the same time.

They also hinted at their upcoming pre-order campaigns for North America and Europe. No details were mentioned during the podcast, although the three do say that the studio will be releasing more info soon.

Moving on to the game, Ryan Payton in particular had much to say regarding MGS4’s latest tool: The Solid Eye (The fancy-looking eye patch Snake’s always wearing). Ryan explained that this gadget enabled Snake to identify items at a distance, and even allowed him to see an enemy’s health bar, or what sort of weapons they’re carrying.

On a slightly sadder tone, the trio noted that there are currently no plans for a Europe version of Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection. This game bundle includes MGS, MGS2: Substance, and MGS3: Subsistence. And for the seriously hardcore fans, no – MGS4 does not carry options for you to switch to the original Japanese dubbing, due to lack of space in the game disk.

That’s a brief rundown on some of the more important points raised during the podcast. You can listen in on the whole Q&A session over in the source link.
