Ever since the Gene update launched for Metal Gear Online, the online game took a bit of a downhill trek. IP restrictions and other issues have been plaguing users and now Konami has stepped in to do something about it. Not everything’s been fixed, but at least the MGO Shop is up and running well now. Details after the jump.

We know a lot of you were disappointed with what’s been happening in the Metal Gear Online servers as of late. After the Gene update launched, everything went downhill for the game.
One of the major issues was that of the MGO shop. Restrictions to certain IPs were placed on the servers to lighten up the load. In the process, the feature was made unavailable to some players. All that is now over and done with as the official Konami site announced:
We are glad to inform you that the IP restrictions placed on the MGO shop as of 18:00 on 07/17/2008 (PDT) has been lifted. All customers will now be able to use the MGO shop without any delays. We would like to apologize for all inconveniences caused for the past week.
Finally, some relief for people who just want a good game of MGO! Let’s hope Konami doesn’t let up on updating their services to ensure that we all get what we paid for.
