Microsoft breaks Sony’s records in Australia
Our friends from Australia first got to experience next-gen on March 23, 2006 because on that day, Microsoft launched there the Xbox 360. Today, Microsoft came out with an announcement that they’ve finally reached the 100,000 mark. It is noteworthy, however, that 30,000 of those were bought during the first four days.
The said figure now makes the Xbox 360 the fastest selling console in Australia. Standing sales records were also broken as the total number of X360-related software sold amount to 400,000 titles all in all. Top selling games include Saints Row, Call of Duty 2, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.
The only competition X360 faced was the PS2. The latter, however, was dominated very much. To compare the two, the PS2 only sold a total of 78,000 units and 190,000 games within the seven month period. It seems Sony is losing the battle down under. We wonder how the tides would go after the PS3 finally arrives.
