Microsoft CFO Liddell on big numbers, record-breaking Xbox 360 attach rate - Image 1Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell has divulged that the attach rate for Xbox 360 is now at unprecedented level, proving the efficiency of the business plan they set in motion years ago.

For those not familiar with this term, the attach rate is the number of titles and accessories gamers purchase after buying a platform. More on this after the jump!

Microsoft CFO Liddell on big numbers, record-breaking Xbox 360 attach rate - Image 1CNBC correspondent Jim Goldman recently had a talk with Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell regarding the strong showing of his company’s entertainment and device division in the last few weeks and its expected much impressive showing this quarter.

It is in this talk that Liddell provided new information regarding big MS’ numbers such as US$ 3.06 billion in revenue and more importantly, US$ 357 million in profits. Liddell shared that most of the contribution came from the Zune and Xbox 360.

Zoning particularly on the video game industry, CFO Liddell added that once hardware purchases were done, the most important thing to a company is the attach rates of gamers. The official added:

We’re now at a stage where we sell about 7 games per console and that’s a record certainly for any console and relative to history. So people are now actually spending more on the games and accessories than they are on the underlying console.

So that business model that we put in place the last couple of years is certainly starting to fire.

Indeed, Microsoft’s latest numbers are quite a contrast from the numbers it got same time last year.
