Microsoft confirms 512MB Xbox 360 Arcade, now shipping as standard models
We reported earlier that some modders have spotted a new Jasper-based Xbox 360 Arcade with 512MB onboard memory. The published images are from a Japanese Arcade SKU made on April 9th 2009 which features a larger internal memory unit rather than the standard 256MB of the original model. Now Microsoft has finally confirmed the news that all new Xbox 360 Arcade models are now shipping with 512MB of onboard memory as standard.

Microsoft has released a statement on gaming site Eurogamer to confirm the earlier reports.
The Xbox 360 system software uses some of the included 512MB memory; less storage will be available to users. Additional storage (sold separately) may be needed for game saves, Xbox LIVE Arcade games, content downloads, personal file storage, and additional enhanced functionality. A hard drive is recommended for LIVE, and is required for some features. We want to offer consumers a bit more memory at the same low price so they can enjoy more experiences on Xbox LIVE.
