Microsoft considering expanded Xbox Live friends list

Now that Xbox Live support for the original Xbox has been decommissioned, will Xbox 360 owners finally get a friends list that goes beyond the 100-friend limit? Microsoft is reportedly “considering” it.
Speaking to Xbox World 360, Microsoft product director Aaron Greenberg said that they are aware of what people are asking for: “We have heard from folks that they want to be able to extend the Friends List. It’s something we are looking at. We haven’t announced anything but it is definitely something that we’re aware of.”
Greenberg also teased that the friends list cap increase isn’t the only new feature Microsoft is looking into.
“We’re at that point now where that community has largely transitioned off and onto the Xbox 360,” he said, “and now, by discontinuing that support, we’re able to add more features without necessarily having to support things like that firends list integration where you could see your friends on Xbox 1 or Xbox 360.
“Having that new flexibility will allow us to bring more features to the Xbox Live Community on Xbox 360.”
Last year, it was reported that Microsoft’s inability to increase the friends list cap above 100 stemmed largely from technical limitations imposed by the original Xbox Live service. Microsoft pulled the plug on the service last week.
