Microsoft debunks Natal release rumors
Rumors came out last week pointing to the release info for Project Natal, which included the margin, the price, even a number of launch titles to be available. When asked for comment, Xbox UK exec Neil Thompson flatly dismissed the rumors, saying they “weren’t accurate” and that the kitchen’s still cooking as far as the Natal release is concerned.
“No. They weren’t accurate, they were rumors. I’ve got nothing more to say about it,” were Thompson’s exact words, referring to the rumored date, price, and the 14 launch titles that Natal will supposedly come out with. “We’re still very much in the baking on Natal and there’s a lot of things to get decided on it.”
“Now you know better than to listen to that stuff! We will announce in good time” Europe head Chris Lewis added later in the same event in London, where Microsoft launched the Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, and Zune features for Xbox Live.
Lewis goes on:
As you can imagine, we’ve shared this technology with our worldwide development partners now for some time, and the pace with which they’re developing the kind of experiences is just amazing.
I’m not going to be specific about what they might be, I will say however we’re committed to ensure those experiences are unique, compelling and very exciting right from the outset. That has to happen and that will happen.
With the expected release still a year away, it’s fairly predictable that Microsoft won’t be confirming release details any time soon.
