Microsoft expecting huge profits from Halo 3

It’s been said before, and it’s being said again: Microsoft is expecting the Halo 3 launch to be better than that of Halo 2. This is a pretty tall order considering the US$ 125 million worth of Halo 2 games they sold within 24 hours of its launch.

The Head of Microsoft Game Studios Shane Kim spoke about the game saying that he “definitely believe(s) that Halo 3 is going to be bigger than Halo 2. Retailers know what Halo 2 did and they are not going to want to be caught out of stock.” Pretty strong words, but how much can Halo 3 really sell given the current penetration of the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii into the marketplace?

Halo 3 is perhaps one of the most awaited titles for the Xbox 360. It hasn’t launched yet but products such as Microsoft’s Halo 3 Zune are already jumping on the band wagon. Judging from the amount of community interest the video game has been generating, it may well be the best-selling game of the year when it comes out.
